DIY Wills Should Be Avoided – SWW

A recent announcement made by Brian McMillan, director general of Society of Will Writers - a non-profit organisation, which seeks to protect and serve the public - suggests that wills written without supervision and advice are the best option for people who want to plan their future.

He is determined that such areas as will writing and estate planning are too complicated for an average Brit.

Instead of writing do-it-yourself wills, Mr. McMillan suggests finding the time to hire a professional will writer, who will draw up a proper document. Commenting on the issue, he said that “when writing a will, it is imperative to use a professional who can demonstrate membership of a professional body which guarantees high levels of training”

Director General of Society of Will Writers also urged UK consumers to draw up this document as early as possible. Many Brits are unaware of its importance, as the latest research by Unbiased showed 30 million adults do not have a will; the figure was 2 million down in 2009.
