Tories advocate fair pension

Conservatives proclaimed raising the basic state pension by linking it to income rather than prices in 2012. Before the May elections Teresa May initiated a campaign in Edinburgh South aimed at elderly voters. The proposed pension scheme is entirely consistent with the recently released Tories’ manifesto in Scotland aimed at helping elderly people.

Ms May referred to the government data indicating that two million pensioners live poorly and every third pensioner lives in fuel poverty. She announced plans to protect the fuel payment in winter and ensure free bus tickets and television licenses for the people over 75 years old.

Ms May also demonstrated the Tories’ commitment to oppose the Labours’ plans to abolish both disability allowance and service allowance. The retired people will be able to reduce their energy bills as Tories propose to introduce special insulation measures worth up to £ 6,500 without the need for pensioners to make any upfront payments, as it will be financed through the bill savings.
