The Bank of Scotland Tops Financial Ombudsman Service’s List

The latest figures revealed by the Financial Ombudsman Service yesterday, on February 28th suggest that the Bank of Scotland tops the mortgage complaints list. In the period from July, 1 and December, 1, there were 884 complaints received by the service from the bank's customers. Over 30% of these complaints were upheld in the favour of borrowers.
The second place was taken by Santander, which received 515 complaints, 26% of which were upheld in favour of customers.
These banks were followed by Barclays, against which there were over 480 complaints. More than 40% of them were upheld in the favour of customers.
Other banks in this list included Northern Rock and Cheltenham & Gloucester.
The Financial Ombudsman Service said that the number of mortgage-related complaints increased by 38%. Almost half of these complaints are related to mortgage payment protection insurance.
