UK Building Societies Increase Mortgage Lending in February

According to the latest figures revealed by Building Societies Association (BSA), the number of mortgages given out by UK building societies increased significantly in February 2012.
As such, the number of approved mortgage loans was 31% higher than in February 2011 and 29% than in January this year, whereas the lending increased by 28%.
Commenting on the findings, Adrian Coles, general director of the Building Societies Association (BSA), highlighted: "The strong financial results released by a number of mutual lenders in recent months show that the sector is well positioned to offer market-leading products to its customers and are open for business."
Let us remind that earlier this month the UK Land registry said that house prices in the UK rose by 0.1% in February, reaching 161 500 pounds.
The detailed report on UK lending market is available on the official website of the Building Societies Association.
