UK Consumers Choose Online Christmas Shopping

According to a recent report by Kelkoo, UK-based comparison website, heavy snowfalls in Great Britain resulted in huge losses for retail stores as some of its staff was unable to get to work and as British consumers preferred to stay at home.

However, online Christmas shopping has seen a significant uprise, as 19% more consumers used their credit card to pay for gifts online.

Commenting on the figures, Mr. Simpson of Kelkoo said that "consumers have little interest in venturing into a winter wonderland; instead it’s all about surfing online in the comfort of their own home."

The results of the research are supported by those of Santander, which earlier published a report, according to which 70% of British consumers will be Christmas shopping online. Mr. Coles of Santander Credit Cards believes that online credit card purchases are a more efficient and cost-effective way of shopping.
