Brits Do Not Know How to Drive in Winter

The latest survey performed by Sainsbury's insurance revealed that many UK drivers simply do not know how to behave on icy and snowy roads, thus risking accidents.
The company discovered that as many as 13.7 million drivers in the UK do not know what to do when the car goes into a spin. But what is worse, 27% of the respondents made the suggestions that would only worsen the situation on the road.
The good news is, however, that only 22% of Brits are willing to drive when there's ice on the roads, providing there's an emergency. Further 7% of the respondents said they do not drive under any circumstances in the winter time.
Given these statistics, Sainsbury's still expects 264,000 accidents to occur on the icy roads this year. In the past 5 years, there were 1.3 million accidents during the winter time.
Commenting on the findings, Ben Tyte of Sainsbury's said: "We would encourage all drivers to make sure they know the correct way to handle their vehicle in slippery conditions." he also highlighted that using winter tyres is crucial for safety on the roads.
