The UK Investment Market is Ready for New Capital Inflows

At the Third Annual Global Financial Services Centre Conference in Dublin on the April 28th the UK market was declared to be attractive enough to draw new investments. The director of authorised funds & tax at the IMA (Investment Managers Association), Julie Patterson, said that at present, the UK offers investors efficiently governed and managed funds and effective tax regulation system.
Julie Patterson mentioned that in the recent past the tax system in the UK was unreasonably complicated, which was making the UK market less attractive for investors. Only after certain changes have been made to the investment legislation, such as launching tax-efficient securities and workable regime improvement for authorised funds, the increase in capital inflows can be expected.
Some other changes are still under discussion. However, companies that were participating in the dialog with government officials last year note positive results of the new investment regulation approach.
There are many plans for further improvements, like giving additional advantages to authorised funds, making the UK investment market more transparent and implementation of onshore hedge fund regime.
