UK Homeowners Shouldn’t Leave Homes Unattended

Towergate Insurance, UK-based provider of boat, caravan, car, property and business insurance, warned UK homeowners and landlords against leaving uninsured properties unattended.

The company highlighted that, according to official statistics, the number of unoccupied homes accorss England has already reached almost 740,000. Most of these premises are uninsured as owners try to save as much money as possible in the current economic climate.

Mr. Walker, Towergate's chief executive, commented: "In these tough economic times vacant premises are likely to become an easy target for light fingered burglars or even opportunist squatters seeking a new home."

He also reminded landlords and homeowners to contact insuring company every time the property becomes vacant as there is a limit to the amount of time a house can be left unoccupied. Typically, with most insurance companies this period is 3 months.

More detailed information on Towergate report is available on the official website of the insurance company.
