Parents Urged to Take Care of Buggies – Halifax Home Insurance

An unexpected report was published by Halifax Home Insurance on November 6th, 2010. The research carried out by the company suggests that sales of baby strollers have almost doubled in the past year and reached £60 million.
What is worse, parents are unconsciously fuelling the black markets of baby strollers as they purchase expensive second-hand items.
The study by Halifax revealed that criminals were most interested in certain models of buggies. They include but are not limited to: Bugaboo Bee Plus, Silver Cross 3D, Maclaren Techno XT and Quinny Zapp.
Most strollers (22%) were stolen from inside the house, 11% - from just outside the property, whereas the remaining buggies disappeared from parks, restaurants and similar spots.
Commenting on the findings, Mr. Rochestser of Halifax Home Insurance said that it is strongly recommended that "all new parents make sure buggies are safely secured when stored in the home, and not left visible in porches or driveways where they can be easily stolen as they are on wheels, enabling a quick getaway."

This is becoming such a big problem! One really easy solution- Stroller locks! I was surprised to discover that there are such specific locks, but now I see why. I used to use just a bike lock, but got a cute Buggyguard stroller lock as a gift. It is so much easier to use than the lock I had before, and the retractable cable is MUCH longer. Other parents should really consider locking their buggies up for good.
