Criminals to Blame for the Rise of Home Insurance Cost

Homeowners face the home insurance price rise because of criminals who surf social networks like Facebook and Twitter for homeowners who are away on holiday. Experts warn that posting personal data in social networks can increase you home insurance cost.
According to Legal & General’s research in 2009 about 40% of social networks users post their holidays plans and 25% of these people got public access to their pages
A website called PleaseRobMe was launched in February 2010 aims to show how reckless social network users can be when they post personal data.
Research by Legal & General concludes that social networks и became a trend that makes home insurers really nervous. For example, Darren Black from confused.com says that premiums can increase by 10% to cover the losses from social networks related crimes.
Hiscox insurance company even doesn’t insure celebrities who inform magazines Hello and OK about their holiday plans. They also want to start practicing the same on everyday homeowners who post such data on public access networks and forums.
On the other hand Aviva representative Jonathan Cracknell admits they wouldn’t turn down a burglary claim if homeowner posted information on Facebook.
