Brits Spend Thousands of Pounds on Home Improvements

A recent research carried out by Esure home insurance revealed that Brits spend 11 days and almost 1,200 pounds a year to make their homes look like the ones in TV shows.
Reality television programmes like Grand Designs and The Home Show make almost 35% of Brits realise they need to make improvements to their homes. Over the lifetime, such improvements cost Brits 60,000 pounds and 18 months of life.
Interestingly enough, of the 1,200 pounds that Brits spend annually on home improvements, only 267 pounds go to the things they really need. The remaining 933 are spent on useless home decorations and items that homeowners never use.
Commenting on the findings, Nikki Sellers of Esure said that "While pleasing on the eye, a house that resembles a show home is not the most practical place to live. Accidents do happen so it’s important for homeowners to ensure that they have adequate home and contents insurance so that you are fully protected if anything unfortunate does happen."
