UK Employment Rate to Remain Unchanged

The largest hiring agency in the UK, Hays, recently announced that the new jobs in the private sector are not enough to compensate the cuts in the public sector.

Its experts warned that should the situation remain unchanged, there will be no improvements in UK unemployment rate in the next 6 months. At the moment unemployment rate stands at 7.9%.

Commenting on the forecast, Mr. Alistair Cox, chief executive of Hays, said that most jobs have always been created by small and medium-sized businesses that "are not yet recruiting.”

He also warned that the decline in government hiring will reach its bottom in the middle of 2011.

The good news, in the opinion of Mr. Cox, is that fears of Brits that private sector companies were reluctant to take on public sector staff were unfounded. He confirmed that Hays helped thousands of public sector professionals find a job in the private sector.

As for Hays itself, the company expects positive growth in 2011. It has already expanded its international business by opening new offices in USA and Mexico.
