Solicitor conducts his business inappropriately.

It has been reported by the Law Society Gazette that, by the decision of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, Mahmood Akram Khan Mirza will be struck off the roll.
This decision was based on the grounds that he had conducted business in a manner not acceptable by the Solicitor Practice rules and was below a standard of the Solicitors Code of Conduct.
It was pointed out that his manner could damage the good reputation of the solicitors’ profession. He had allowed withdrawal of funds from his clients’ accounts, which led to subsequent shortage of cash.
He had permitted a foreign lawyer, Mr. Muddasar Iqbal, to act in conveyancing proceedings, despite the fact that he was not allowed to do so. He also failed to present his client with highly significant information in conveyancing transactions.
There were other counts of misconduct such as money laundering and failure to implement and follow a proper identification procedure in conveyancing transactions to establish clients’ identity. Furthermore, he had failed to notify property fraud; failed to maintain appropriate professional indemnity insurance, acted dishonestly and abandoned his practice. Due to the seriousness of the situation, the decision was made to strike off the respondent and in addition,he was ordered to pay costs of £38,522.
