Land Registry to Review Land Registration Legislation

Land Registry to Review Land Registration Legislation

Land Registry has launched a consultation, which is aimed at making changes to land registration legislation.

As such, the organisation plans to amend the definition of "conveyancer" in order to make it consistent with the providers who are allowed to prepare conveyancing documents and file applications for land registration purposes.

Land Registry experts are determined that this move will not only make conveyancing services in the country more efficient and standardised, but also make life easier for new companies entering the conveynacing market. Organisation's experts believe that the new legislation will give providers of legal services greater flexibility when it comes to responding to market needs.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Pierleoni of Land Registry, said that "the consultation paper sets out the amendments we consider are necessary to the legislation and the processes and practices required to meet the needs of both property professionals and property owners."
