Halifax Publishes New UK Property Market Report

The sales of property in certain UK cities rose by almost 45%, while in several counties they fell by more than 30%.

A research recently performed by Halifax revealed that the most popular city among UK house buyers is Bury. The number of houses sold in the area in the first six months of 2011 was 44% higher than at the over the same period last year. Those were flats and terraced houses that accounted for the rise in sales.

The next in line was Leigh in Greater Manchester, which saw an increase in property sales of 32%. The third place in the Halifax’ list was taken by Staffordshire with its 30% rise in home sales.

However, not all UK towns saw such a significant increase in market activity. In fact, many counties experienced a dramatic fall in sales; as such, Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire had 39% less property sales in 2011 than in 2010. It was followed by Buckingham with its 34% decrease.

The detailed results of the research by Halifax are available on the banks’ official website.
