Landlords Positive about the Buy to Let Sector

Latest survey suggests British landlords are positive about the buy to let sector and its prospects.

CHL Mortgages, a specialist buy to let lender, recently published the results of its survey performed among UK landlords.

The number of landlords positive about the future of the buy to let sector increased from 67% in summer 2011 and 64% in summer 2010 to 72%.

Over 35% of respondents said they plan to expand their portfolio, while 47% of landlords said they feel positive about the demand from tenants.

"More landlords are looking to acquire new properties if they can ... meet lenders' requirements... This positivity is clearly fuelled by a growing demand for private rental properties from tenants and a significant improvement in the rental yields available," said Bob Young, MD at CHL Mortgages.

He also highlighted that the company usually performs its surveys once a year, however, this time the lender wanted to do it quarterly.
