Broadband Is Cheaper and Faster in UK Cities

A research recently carried out by Simplifydigital, UK-based online comparison service, revealed that Brits who live in rural areas pay twice as much for broadband and yet get slower connections.
As such, customers in the cities pay an average of 8.40 pounds, while those in rural areas - 16.26 pounds for their broadband.
In the opinion of experts at Simplifydigital, such disparities are linked to the equipment broadband providers use. In urban areas, companies get a chance to install their own equipment and compete with each other, which, evidently, drives prices down. As for rural areas, very few broadband providers choose to go there, and lack of competition results in high prices.
Speeds are higher in the cities because distances to equipment are shorter.
Commenting on the findings, Mr. Ponsonby of Simplifydigital, said that "Our research starts to quantify what many of us already know, namely that the price of Internet connection varies depending on where you live."
More details on the research carried out by the company is available on its official website.
