Brazillian departure tax

Hi everyone,

I have booked holidays to Brazil, got my tickets and thought all was included. However, when we went to collect tickets, we were advised that there is a departure tax in Brazil, so we need spare cash. My UK travel agent is not sure about this departure tax and told me that it is approximately $36.

Does anyone know what actually happens at the airport?!
